team as the Assistant Director of Security Operations. This
critical role manages the safety and security programs encompassing
student housing, ensuring a secure environment for over 8,500
academic year residents and 10,000 summer guests.Key
Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop safety and security programs.
- Supervise Security Operations Specialists and student
assistants.
- Collaborate with SDSU University Police and other
partners.
- Conduct routine assessments and audits of security software and
hardware.
- Ensure operational safety norms are established and
maintained.
- Oversee door alarms and front desk electronic security
kiosks.
- Assist with emergency management and response within student
housing.
- Participate in the Administrator-on-Duty call rotation.
- Support after-hours and weekend maintenance or custodial
emergencies.Security Operations:
- Partner with Residential Education for security audits and
property walks.
- Respond to community impacts, vandalism, and other behavioral
issues.
- Maintain Security Asset Managers (SAM and SRP Boxes) within
residential communities.
- Establish and maintain strong campus partnerships to maximize
security.
- Support special events or projects related to safety and
security.CCTV Program:
- Oversee the CCTV program, including software and camera
management.
- Coordinate CCTV investigations and timely response to
vandalism.
- Investigate and implement billing for damages and work with
students on outcomes.
- Coordinate with Housing Facilities Services and Residential

- This is a full-time, permanent/probationary position offering
comprehensive benefits.
- Position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible
for overtime compensation.
- Standard work hours are Wednesday-Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. and requires occasional evening hours based on operational
needs.
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU
in San Diego.Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of three years of increasingly responsible safety or
security oversight including responsibility for safety and security
of special events, responsibility for technical or related security
devices, hardware, or software.
- Experience managing or overseeing large events.
- Working knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures
of security and safety, including developing, deploying, managing,
and auditing short term and long term security plans and
programs.Key Qualifications
- Preferred live in and/or live on experience within a housing or
residential community setting.
- Higher education experience and understanding of safety and
security protocol for large living and residential housing
settings.
- Working knowledge of industry safety standards and security
requirements including ingress and egress strategies, CCTV
regulations and norms, and alarm and annunciator programs.
- Ability to create and deploy safety and security protocols,
procedures, projects, and programs, and have a strong understanding
of procurement processes for quick response for any access and
security needs throughout the inventory.
- Ability to lead or collaborate with other offices, staff
members, and vendors to act promptly to resolve actual or potential
problems; develop long range strategies, including recommendations
for policies and procedures impacted by the plans; establish and
maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff,
students, administrators, and members of the general public.
- Ability to complete and supervise duty rounds during evening
hours throughout the housing inventory. This responsibility will
require extremely detailed and accurate tracking and assessment
month to month and year to year for proper management of the
program.
- Requires knowledge of access control software, hard key
management strategies, electronic lock maintenance and management,
and wireless lock management.Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess a valid California Driver's license within 10 days
